About
Teach 312 offers flexible, short-term urban field experiences for J Term, D Term, and May Term students who need focused time to earn observation hours for certification. Paired with my Introduction to Urban Education seminar, institutions can offer course credit through their own university while students learn off campus and immerse themselves in a school context different from what they know so far.
Future educators observe in diverse classrooms, growing their understanding of urban education through a community-centered lens. Through partnerships across Chicago Public Schools, placements are customized to each student’s interests and certification needs and may include classrooms with English language learners, students with special education needs, gifted learners, or magnet schools focused on particular curriculum areas.
Teach 312 coordinates placements with experienced educators, leads Chicago focused seminars, and supports students in navigating their stay in Chicago with ease. Develop well rounded future educators by immersing them in an urban field expereince.

Stepping into a setting that stretches your comfort zone and sparks genuine curiosity can shape you into a more adaptable, empathetic teacher. Chicago is the perfect place for that kind of learning. Why not try it out?
